Turn Toward Haiku

Turn Toward Haiku

  • December 7, 2015

Held down by the force.
Swim deep to break free. Arise.
Your breath awaits you.
-Janetti Marotta

This post is part of my Haiku series. If you haven’t already, please read my “Introduction to Haiku” post.

Short practice:
Mindfulness is a paradoxical practice. It invites you to turn toward that which is difficult. For example, to keep your car from skidding out of control when driving on an icy road, turn toward the skid. To maintain your balance, speed, and control, shift your weight forward on the skis. It’s counter-intuitive, and it works.

“Turn toward that which is difficult.”
