Self-compassion

Self-compassion

  • March 17, 2014

Self-compassion means caring for yourself in the same way you would care for someone you love….When you allow self-compassion to flow, such emotions as hatred, anger, and resentment wash away.

From Our Place of Power

From our place of power
The wind speaks of strength,
The flowers of love,
The grass forgiveness,
The earth of nurturance.

From our place of power
The world surrounds us
And the sky is our blanket.

We are a part,
Of a part,
Of a part,
Of the One.

Tree, who provides shade and comfort,
Whose roots you share with us
To lie on.
You, are the backbone of the
Womb and the tomb
Which we hold vigil
And cry for vision.

Release the pain and the fear
Into the Darkness.
Embrace the mystery and the truth
To the Light.

From our
Place of Power.

-Janetti Marotta

Mindful Noting Practice: Self-compassion
When you cultivate the qualities for mindful self-esteem, you plant the seed of self-compassion. Start by recognizing when you aren’t feeling deserving of love just as you are. What are you saying to yourself, what are you feeling, and how are you holding this in your body?

Take active steps to stimulate self-compassion through physical contact i.e. petting an animal or getting a massage; gestures i.e. smiling or hugging; activities i.e. treating yourself to the gift of time or a favorite treat; and self-talk i.e. looking at the mirror and appreciating yourself for who you are.

“Let your heart lift you.
It whispers, so listen closely.”
